Another birthday has come and almost gone. Naturally, it snowed most of the day, but at least it wasn't a blizzard. Spent the day shopping, reading, and talking on the phone with relatives and friends. Several of my cousins called to sing to me from Tennessee; very funny and thoughtful. Nifty present from my brother: a football signed by my favorite NFL player, Steve Young. Steve was here in Indianapolis a few weeks ago to interview Peyton Manning, and my brother asked him to sign a ball for me. Unfortunately, I did not get to meet him, but I love the ball. Now, if I can only get one from Doug Flutie!! I have two signed by Peyton, and two signed by multiple members of the Colts. The best present of all was from my niece. When she was a small child, I told her stories I made up on the spot about a family of owls named Hoot, with characters named for all our family, and she loved them. She made me a photo album with many recent pictures of her (she is now 23 and in school in Los Angeles), and included a Hoot story she wrote for me, which she said was very hard work!!
