Last night's episode of Lost was a particularly good one. Locke (Terry Q'Quinn) discovers that his paralysis is returning, and tests it by sticking pins in his leg and applying a burning stick to the sole of his foot. Also, we learn more about Locke before the plane crash. He was a foster child, whose mother showed up out of the blue when he was working at a toy store. She tells him he did not have a father, but was immaculately conceived! He searces for his father, finds him, and goes to see him. He enjoys several visits with his father, only to learn he is suffering from kidney disease. Locke of course donates one of his kidneys, but we don't quite learn just how this caused his paralysis. The ending to this story of father/son reunion is heartbreaking. Mother is played by Swoosie Kurtz, but I missed the name of the actor playing his father, though he sure does look familiar. The ingenuity of the castaways in dealing with health problems, like far sightedness, is interesting. Jack (Matthew Fox) and Sawyer (Josh Holloway) also turn in strong performances. If anyone knows the identity of the actor who played Locke's father, please let me know.
