TV Guide, the venerable program listing digest magazine, announced Tuesday it will change format to a large, color photo size. It will also change content, presently 75 per cent listings and 25 per cent articles, to just the opposite.
Jobs will also be cut, but no other information was given about this part of the change.
The magazine's subscriptions and sales have declined due to the availability of online television listings, and cable service program guides.
The changes will be effective early in October.
I will miss the magazine. It is older than I am, and I have used it all my life. I do sometimes use online listings, and use my digital cable guide often, but I still subscribe to and read the magazine. I don't know of any other print magazine like it, with the exception of Satellite Orbit, which I don't much like.
