Former Stars of The ScreenSavers on the Big Screen

Several former stars of the now defunct Tech TV show, The Screen Savers, will appear in a new documentary movie titled, Can You Hack It? The film will follow the lives of hackers Adrian Lamo and others, and attempt to show that hackers are innovative problem solvers, not computer criminals.

Former Screen Savers personnel appearing in the film include Leo LaPorte and Kevin Rose. Many of the hackers in the film were guests on The Screen Savers.

Call for Help on Google Video

Leo LaPorte of TwitTv announced today that his Canadian cable series Call for Help will be available for purchase and download starting tomorrow, June 7, 2006, on Google Video.

Each show will be .99, and eventually all 300 shows will be available for download. New shows will be posted at the same time as they are aired. Shows will be available in AVI, MP4, and PSP compatible versions.

Call for Help Back On in U.S.

Call for Help, the former TechTv series, has been added to the G4 network lineup, beginning August 29. Per Le LaPorte:

"Well it doesn't look like anyone else is going to announce it so I'll confirm what most of you have already guessed. If you check your Tivo or Yahoo! TV listings you'll notice that Call for Help is back on the schedule at G4.

G4 has purchased the show for air in the US. I will continue to fly to Toronto to produce it, and we're not changing a thing. In fact, as those of you who have been watching it know, it's really more like the Screen Savers of old than Call for Help used to be, especially now that Kevin Rose has agreed to appear on the show twice a week. We'll get Patrick up to Toronto, too, I promise."

TWIT's Security Podcast

Leo LaPorte and his cohorts at TWIT have created a new weekly podcast. This one is on developments in the security field. In Leo's own words:

"I've just posted the first episode of Security Now! with Steve Gibson. This shorty podcast (18 minutes) will be a weekly look at hot topics in security from the creator of ShieldsUP and Spinrite (and TWiT regular).
