Library Technician II

Position Responsibilities: Responsible for filing and maintenance of reference services; scheduling reference desk, compiling reference statistics, providing secretarial assistance in reference; check-in, processing, and copy cataloging of government produced books, serials, computer files and maps, both tangible and electronic; processing and maintenance of maps collection. Coordinating materials for ongoing book sale. Some supervision of students. Provides some public assistance.
Qualifications: One year of experience as a Library Technician which included filing and retrieval of library materials and contact with the public; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience. Candidate must be extremely detail oriented, possess excellent organizational skills, and the ability to learn and apply complex cataloging rules. Good written and oral communication skills and the ability to work well on a team and with the public are essential. Must keyboard at 40 wpm. and be proficient in Windows based word processing and spreadsheet software.
Preferred qualifications: The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree, experience working in a university library, extensive experience in searching a University online library catalog, and some supervisory experience. Experience working with the public. Experience creating Web pages.
