Book Lovers Day

Saturday, August 9, is Book Lovers Day. This is a perfect day for me to celebrate, since I have been in love with books and reading for as long as I can remember. I love the smell and feel of new books, and cherish the old favorites I revisit frequently. I don't necessarily want to read the whole book again when I revisit it. Sometimes I just want to find a favorite passage, or at other times, just hold the book, flip through it, and remember the pleasure reading it brought me.

Ice Cream Sandwich Day

Today, August 2, 2008, is Ice Cream Sandwich day. It has certainly been hot enough here today (high of 85, still 75 at 10:00pm) to make this a very welcome treat.

Happy Independence Day

Happy Independence Day. May your holiday be exactly what you want it to be. I can hear fireworks as I type this at 10:24pm, but I can't see them.

I can't believe it has been three months since I have updated this and my other blogs. Not because I haven't wanted to. I have been ill again and trying to work, at least part of the time. This takes almost all of my energy, with little or nothing left for posting, but I do miss it and want to get back to at least some regular positng as soon as I can.

I resolve to: post to this and all my blogs more frequently than I have during the past six months; work harder to improve my health; find a new job that is not so physically draining; move back to New York City as soon as my health improves enough.

Cousins Day

Today, July 24, is Cousins Day, and it is my cousin Gerald's birthday.I have 55 first cousins, and I have lost track of how many children and grand-children they have. A family reunion is scheduled for August 26, 2006 in our little home town of Celina, Tennessee. Not all of them will be there, of course, but I am looking forward to seeing them. Many of them, I haven't seen in a lot of years, unfortunately.
